Martial Arts Training

Why do we train in the martial arts?  Clearly, it’s because we love it!  But that seems crazy when you consider all of the potential dangers associated with it.  For example, I’ve personally endured cracked and broken bones, dislocated joints, strains, sprains, bruises, humiliation (okay, that’s not a physical danger, but it certainly kills motivation), not to mention frustration and concern that I’ll never “get it” when it comes to some of the harder skills to master.  So what’s the point?  What is it that we get out of our martial arts training?  Well, here are a few points to consider:

  • Strength
  • Confidence
  • Speed
  • Agility
  • Flexibility
  • Sense of awareness
  • Fitness
  • The ability to protect ourselves and those we love or the innocent

For many of us, that last one is about as important as anything.  If you’re like me, you were bullied as a kid and want to be sure you’re never vulnerable again.  If not, perhaps you were the bully and realized you needed some discipline.  Maybe you just wanted to be a better bully.  If so, please leave now.  This site is for those who wish to better themselves, not hurt others for fun!

Anyway, whatever your reasons for training in the martial arts, I hope you find this site informative and interesting and that you get a lot out of it.  We’re all on the same journey here, and together we can become the best we can be!  So let’s support each other, help each other learn, and have fun while we’re at it!
